With a view to applying Kéroul’s principles of making tourism and culture accessible to people with restricted physical ability, and following the award of $100,000 in financial assistance from the Programme d’accessibilité des établissements touristiques (PAET) in 2021, we have set up a large-scale project incorporating a new service offering for these users as part of our vision of sustainable development.
The Park offers a unique network of hiking trails. Indeed, we are proud to offer a barrier-free trail to all our users. Whether it’s a leisurely walk or a short jog , this 1,3km loop is accessible and safe for everyone, all year round.
Please note that we are also accredited by AQLPH as an accompanying member, which means thata person or parent accompanying a person with a disability or reduced mobility, can visit our trails free of charge. What’s more, several pieces of equipment such as a joëlette, a seahorse, adapted sledges and much more, are now available free of charge to people with limited mobility.
The twins, Le Prospecteur and Le Défricheur, have had a makeover!
Thanks to the financial support of Kéroul, our chalets 2 and 3 are now adapted to accommodate, people with reduced mobility. Modifications include a new access ramp to the exterior, a new bathroom (with vanity and toilet), kitchen remodeling and much more.
Parc de la rivière Gentilly is also equipped with twelve Anekdote, as well as various interpretation panels, all located on the Kéroul obstacle-free trail. Whether it’s to talk about activities at the Park, the history of the Thibodeau family, present in the early 1900s, or about the natural world around us, these audio tales and panels will tell you all you need to know about the Gentilly River Regional Park.
