Bog

Information

Here you’ll discover one of the most important wetlands in southern Quebec. The Sainte-Marie-de-Blandford peat bog is considered a highly privileged site for conservation, due to its large size, diversity of flora and habitats. Considering the major ecological role of this peat bog for the region, the Bécancour MRC has decided to showcase this natural heritage as a place for public awareness and education. Take advantage of this walk to admire this extraordinary wetland and learn more about peatland ecology from the interpretive panels along the way. The trail you’re about to explore is a unique and fragile habitat. We ask you to stay on the trails to avoid trampling and degradation of the vegetation. Please keep your pets on a leash, and note that there are no garbage cans on site. So please bring your own garbage. Thank you for your understanding and enjoy the walk!
